"City of Refuge" is a local non-profit that provides free medical care, transitional housing for single mothers, & food for the homeless. We had the privilege of spending our Intermediate Photo semester with Prof. Laura Noel documenting this impoverished community in Bankhead, Georgia. The West Side is riddled with crimes, drugs, & prostitution, so partaking in this project really provided Emory students an opportunity to conduct photographic documentation in order to bring awareness to the sanctuary & the positive impact from its communal efforts. Our works culminated in a "Emory Photographs City of Refuge" Exhibition, where my clinic photograph was later used to represent Dr. Charles Moore's HEALing Community Center initiatives at City of Refuge.
